Bison in the Black Hills, SD July 2004
"Don't come any closer."
   There were 100's of bison on both sides of the road here plus a column of moving bison that we had encountered earlier that was perhaps a couple of miles long.
   This gal was the closest.
   Once in a while, we got a sense of how ubiquitous the bison once were in the West and how they had constituted a major resource for human life that the area offered before the arrival of white Europeans.
