Although I had crossed the Continental Divide several times by air (including on the way to and from Korea) and a couple of times on the ground in Mexico (without knowing it), this was the first time that the location had been noted. I asked someone to take a picture of me; it seems that they were in a hurry to get it over with. After this, I remember descending rapidly to the plains --- and then into a night, another day, and most of another night of driving before taking a short nap of about 1 1/2 hours. I got home in the late morning. From when I had started in Utah to when I took that nap outside of Cleveland was 42 hours of driving ... too long.
