Kathy had been unable to attend the graduation ceremony of her university. Some weeks later during a visit by various family members, Kathy was finagled by her mother, Dean Ann, to get into her academic gown. I don't know what the pretext was, and we heard audible protests. Nevertheless, the gown went on.
What is going on?
Embarrassed and confused, Kathy is seated. She had no idea of the conspiracy that had been in the works.
To her amazement, a figure dressed in the full academic regalia appeared on the porch facing her chair.
Until now, I had been a relatively distant cousin from where her mother had been born. Now, I was a serious academic officiating in a degree granting ceremony personalized for her.
