This photo was taken a few years ago in a legislator's Albany office as we listened to the usual refrain of "We love public libraries and we recognize their importance and we realize that they are underfunded, but . . . there is only so much money (in a "bumper" year); the money must go elsewhere (like to a stadium); which starving children do you want to deprive to get your funding? (as if that were the only choice that the state could make).
