My interest in collecting music began while I was in high school and have been collecting Big Bands and Singers ever since. Now some 40 years later I can still enjoy listening to the wonderful sound of the Big Band Era.
The so called "Big Band Era" is mainly considered to have taken place from the middle 30's to the middle 40's. But, in my opinion, the time from the middle 20's led to the development and rise of the "Big Band Era" and then the slow decline into the middle 50's.
Who is in my personal collection of music recordings you may ask..... well..... it's easier to say who is not in the collection. I have recordings by just over 800 bands and personalities who have made fewer than 20 recordings. This list of course does not include any of the Big Bands or lesser known groups who have made over 20 recordings in their career.
The collection consists of unknowns like The Beale Street Washboard Band, The California Poppies, and The Memphis Stompers..... to the semi-popular Coon-Sanders Nighthawks, The Chocolate Dandies and Ted Fio Rita..... to the very popular Dorseys, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman and Glenn Miller.
The collection not only has the recordings of nearly 1,000 different personalities but also the complete recorded output of many of these bands.
